Yesterday morning my sisters went to do the chickens for me and they found long worms in one of my 5-8 week old chicks! I didn't see them but my sisters said that they were long and they were pinkish with blood in the poop. What type of worm is this? My mom saw them and she said they looked like round-worms. Before I had a chance to get a picture they threw the poop away.

I have electrolytes and worm medication as well as Safeguard but will that kill the babies? I haven't seen any more worms in the poop since yesterday morning but I'm keeping my eyes open all the time.

Weigh your chicks so you can give the correct dosage ----
Fenbendazole (Safeguard, Panacur) is 1/4 ml per pound for 5 days in a row.
Of course, it's always best to have a fecal float performed by your vet and follow their advice.

Could they have mistaken skinny tubular poops or intestinal shed for worms, and instead they could be suffering from coccidiosis with the blood? How are they acting? that age is common for coccidiosis, so if you see any acting very sleepy, hunched or puffed up, refusing to eat, and having diarrhea or more blood, I would get some Corid at the feed store to treat for possible coccidiosis. Any pictures of their droppings will help. Here are a couple of articles to read:

I agree with Eggcessive. It would be unusual for chicks that young to be pooping out adult roundworms which are white not pinkish anyway.... They are the right age for intestinal shedding and that would be flesh coloured. If they also saw proper dark red blood in the poop then I would go with Eggcessive's diagnosis of coccidiosis and treat with Corid, because that is much more common at that age.

I know that. but I don't know the name of that. It's not so serious. But you need keep the coop clean.

So I haven't seen any more weird stuff in the poop.

All the babies are acting fine and running around as usual. I can't go and grab medicine today but I might be able to go on Mon or Tues.

I would suggest you google some images of roundworms in chicken poop and intestinal shedding and show them to your sisters and mother so that they can hopefully identify what they actually saw and enable you to then treat them with the appropriate medicine or if it was just intestinal shed, then no treatment may be necessary. Roundworms have a very defined shape and are white whereas intestinal shedding is pink/flesh coloured and more collapsed in form.
