Okay. About the feathers on the back. A large portion of her neck and all down his/her back was pecked off. It wasn't pecked bloody but they pecked the feathers off. When its wings spread apart, there are hardly any feathers there.
So I guess now we REALLY have to wait to find out!! I would feel much less guilty keeping a hen rather than roo. But if it doesn't start crowing until, say, 9 months old, well, hopefully by then we will be house-shopping!
