This is for a dozen plus extras from our BLRW flock of blue cockerel over dark blue and splash hens. I will pack carefully and ship promptly but can't guarantee hatch rate after they leave my care. These ship Monday, May 3 via express mail.

Monday is May 3, not May 5?
Anyway, beautiful birds!

Any picture of the chick(s)? I have never had BLRW before, can you sex them at hatch? When (how old) do they start laying?
The rooster seem more red, is this a better to cross the splash to get BLR? sorry for all of the dumb questions.

Don't worry, there are no dumb questions! In BLRW you can get three colors: splashed laced red, blue laced red and black laced red. It works just like the black/blue/splash solid color birds do, that is:

Splash bred to Black=100% Blue chicks
Splash bred to Blue=50% blue, 50% splash
Splash bred to Splash=100% splash

Blue bred to Black=50% black, 50% blue
Blue bred to Blue=25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash

Black to Black=100% black

Ours started to lay about 24 weeks. They lay a nice extra large brown egg about 5-6 times a week, and they will go broody. They are nice, calm friendly birds, the rooster is not aggressive to people, and doesn't seem to start fights with other roosters, but will take them on if they start it or if they are threatening his ladies. "Walter" is a light blue and his babies with his four splash and two dark blue ladies are running about half blue. He has not finished maturing yet as he was born the end of May 2009 and is not yet a year old. Here is a picture of some of the babies, they are the chocolate chipmunk ones. (The silvery ones with dark spots on their heads are Silver Ameraucanas)

Thanks, cute babies! Looks like a splash and two blues to me. Hope this next hatch goes well!

Gee Thanks, the reason I asked is that I'm planning on hatching them (that is if I don't have to go agaist NAVA on bidding :p ) with Ameraucana and one other breed, I kind of like to know what the little guys looks like so I don't stress out when they all pop out and look alike.
