How does this chick look now?

He (bummer ) is definitely a BLRW. His saddle feathers are just now coming in and his lacing is a smoky gray color. He is going to be a very pretty rooster boy.

His sister from the same hatch is not a Blue laced…she is Black laced red.

Oh, sweet! I guess I missed the last page. So much variation and phone cameras are not always the best. I can always tell a difference between my SLR and my phone. The colors are different

Yeah I would agree though that the red is not very red! Wouldn’t be show quality but he’s very pretty and he’s molting and the new feathers look lighter blue gray so will be fun to see how he progresses!

Your hen is gorgeous! I think she actually looks more gold-laced to me. The rooster looks blrw. Both lovely birds. I am raising both, and excited to see how mine feather out too.

Thank you! She gets the pretty green sheen off of the black part of the feathers in the sun and her feathers are so soft. I agree the phone makes that color look more gold than red, but live it's closer to a red than gold. It's just not great...she was born in the same hatch as my BLRW so I think that means she has to be "red" not gold since he is definitely a red color...but who knows haha. This way I get a bit of each, but it's good knowing she carries the BLRW genes if she and my young male were to breed. I would love to get a small group of them in the future and lighten the blue color some more!
