BLRW question.

I have found some BLRW's in my area from an individual who can't keep roosters. I really did get an Incredible deal for 3 healthy birds! Two are hens and one is a roo (confirmed). I spoke with him and told him he was crazy to not ask for more and I was willing to pay more. He said no and I made him a deal because I felt bad paying so little. Next spring he can either get 12 fertilized eggs to incubate or come pick out 2 pullets when I hatch out. (hopefully if he goes that route he picks pullets and doesnt get a roo again!)

So the birds I bought from a local breeder all turned out to be roosters. Like what was said, the coloring is not worthy of keeping in terms of trying to get the best quality BLRW for my backyard. I will for sure never go back to him. The more I think about it the more I believe these guys were dumped off on me. He was an established breeder and I am sure he could sex them well enough to know what he was doing.
So even though I don't want show quality, the opportunity has arose for some gorgeous birds! I will post pictures next week of the new ones. For now, time to build a little quarantine zone in part of my coop.
