BLRW Question...

I've read where some breeders use the black blrw's to acquire deeper coloring in their golden laced flocks. Are the blacks from blrw's actually true golden laced Wy's?

No they're not. If added to golden laced they would add the gene mahogany which would make the red darker. (They might add other reddening genes too, I don't know, I haven't tried it).​

I see - that makes sense as the gold would be darkened to a red it seems.

I read it as they want to use a black laced red wyandotte on their flock of "gold laced wyandottes" to improve the color of the gold laced wyandottes.

Actually, I don't want to do that, as I don't even have glw's, I just read that some breeders do, so was wanting to know if they were considered to be the same variety. I was confused - not too unusual for me lately.
