I have a BLRW rooster out with my silver laced EE hen. I'm trying to make laced EE's. So far I only have a few chicks from this match and they seem to be overwhelmingly SILVER.

Are there any chance of blues coming from this mix?

I don't know the genetic make-up of that hen. It is possible but not certain that you are making red sex links. Those yellow chicks may be male.

The Blue gene modifies black feathers. If any of those chicks have what would normally be black feathers when they feather out, there is a chance some of those chicks could have blue feathers. Sometimes you cannot tell how they will feather out by down color. I don't know how old those chicks are but you may just have to wait and see.

Me neither! I have no idea what breeds she is, she lays a lovely blue egg though.

So far I can tell 100% that one of the older silver chicks (5 weeks old) is a boy. I have others that are silver that are a bit too young for me to guess at sexing but the only one that I have that is not looking very silver seems to be a pullet. So that would be interesting!

They all hatched looking nearly identical, look just like BLRW chicks (with some variance in shades of yellow and brown)
