Hi all, we successfully got our Wyandotte chicks today

The order was for 16 total: 8-Blue Laced Reds, 4-Blacks and 4-Blues (the SLW and Partridge I wanted were not available for this hatch date)

I thought I'd write this because I saw a post a while back (not sure it was even legit) that described a bad shipping experience from someone who ordered from Paul's Poultry.

We had the complete opposite experience as that person.

Jesse is really nice and works pleasantly to get you what you want, if mother nature allows (remember he is not a hatchery)!

The chicks left FL at 8pm Monday nite vis Express Mail and got to my CT Post Office this morning (Wed). All the chicks were healthy and chirping! He even threw in 10 FREE extra chicks (a few more BLRW's and a couple of Columbians!) Perhaps that was to make up for not having the SLW variety that I wanted, but didn't hatch for him. That was SUPER nice of him and even though we now have chicks everywhere, it was a delightful touch!

He is highly recommended and I would not hesitate to order from him again. SO excited to see how they all turn out!

I will probably not be able to keep any of the roos (they may be nice ones, he is a breeder, not hatchery) and might have a couple of extra pullets.
If anyone lives within driving distance of NE CT and may be interested in some of the extras, PM me. They won't be ready for a few weeks though, so I can choose the ones that will stay and be able to see which are boys. Below are some first pics...I hope to get better ones and post more as they grow...I wish I had the skill of photography that Warden does

Hello! Love them so cute! My question...I hatched 6 out (4.5 weeks old now) and they sure don't like to be loved!! All my past babies LOVED to be snuggled. Is this typical for this breed?
Thanks! Dana

Good for you. They are so sweet. My feed store guy is going to hold 5 for me when they come in... because he gave me BR's instead.
Even though I questioned him 3 times.

Some of mine from last year were more friendly than others...I heard they then go through a "don't want to be touched" phase..so maybe you are in that...maybe someone else who knows better than I will answer too. These guys on day 1 are really cute and most don't seem to mind to be held...but they are still travel weary too!
