i posted the other day that one of my 6-wk old chicks was picked very aggressively resulting in massive feather loss and wounds. i've been out in the coop every half hour today to see who the culprit might be and it appears to be everybody!!! so i've been picking up each chick and checking for wounds - if i find one injured, i've been spraying the wounds with blu-kote (learning the hard way not to spray while standing in the wind . . .) and have separated the wounded girl(s). i now have 2 boxes, a cat carrier, and a rabbit cage with wounded chicks. what exactly does blu-kote do beside treat the wound? how often should i spray the area, and/or do anything else?

one of the chicks is very aggressive and i'm wondering if i should trim her beak. any thoughts? she's separated from everyone right now.

the only ones with issues are my black jersey giants - a neighbor mentioned to dip each chick's beak or head in vinegar to stop them. not sure that would be a solution, but i'm open for anything! i've tried the red light, thrown scratch in their litter to give them a distraction, and am thawing some corn-on-the-cob to give them another project. i'm sure i'm missing something! we are finishing the chicken run this afternoon and are hoping being able to get out and tear around will help with the hobby they have taken up. any other ideas?

i'm sorry i have all these questions, but this is the only place i know of to get answers...
