BYC Café

It's 32° for the first in weeks. We have a big crash coming for the weekend. Single digits overnight for the next two, and then much warmer after that.

Anyone watching the Olympics? We might watch some. We enjoy the skiing, I think the figure skating is pretty, and hubby like the luge and luge-type things.

Good Morning

Coffee is ready and so ready🤣 Hot during the day and Cold late at night and early morning. The season is in transit.

I remember when I got out of Singapore airport, the warm humid air touched my face, I walked back into the terminal, I asked my DH can we go home now, I don't like this heat...and I really did not like it at all during our holiday there, it was humidly hot and same with Viet Nam. 1 noticeable thing about the humid hot weather over there is that somehow my skin is silky smooth, I was very surprise, the humid watering the skin I imagine. The dry heat or winter over here cause the skin to dry out and flaky.

December in Viet Nam, the local was wearing jackets, they looked cold and I was sweating. We have mostly dry heat over here, so when humidity comes, we suffer🤣

Have a lovely day all.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to boil.

It feels weird pulling out all my shorts and cami tops, breezy dresses and canvas flats for packing while it's -3 out.

Good morning Cafe. Hot coffee is ready.

It is positively miserable out there. It's currently 1 and is expected to drop to -3 by 9:00 then warm back up to 3. I have to go to the feed store in this weather. Dogs will remain safe inside the house. No trips with mommy today.

I purchased three 20"x48" seedling heat mats.. extra large versions of what I use under the nest box material to keep eggs from freezing. I have laid these mats on the coop floor and put a thin layer of wood shavings over them. They don't produce a lot of heat but with the chickens laying on them, it will help them stay warm in this weather. They are spending most of their time in the coop anyway.

All waterer maintenance occurs after dark when the birds have gone to roost to prevent any of them from stepping in sloshed water.
