Blue ameraucana roo x bielefelder hen

Hey, next year Im gonna play around with making some pretty EEs. I know the cross will be sex linked, but I was wondering what I will get? @NatJ @nicalandia
With feather color, I mean. I know what I will get for leg color, comb, etc

I would expect black chicks and blue chicks, about equal numbers of each. Some of them may grow up to have leakage of other colors (white, gold, red, etc.) Leakage is most likely in the breasts of females and the shoulders of males.

Sons will have white barring across whatever other colors they have, and should have a light dot on top of their head when they hatch. Daughters will not have the barred feathers or the head dot.

If the Blue Ameraucana is from a good line of purebred Ameraucanas, you should not get chicks of any other colors. But there are many "Ameraucanas" and "Americanas" that carry recessive genes for other colors than the ones they show, and if he is one of them you might get chicks of other colors too (large amounts of silver or gold/red, different patterns in the feathers, various other possibilities.) You should still get some chicks that are black or blue sexlinks (solid females/barred males.)

He is from a good line of ameraucanas. I bought him from a local breeder. I know the difference between amerAUcanas and amerIcanas. You don't know how much it pains me when people spell ameraucana with an I lol.

:lau

I lose track of who knows and who doesn't, so I tried to cover both options.

And of course every time anyone points it out, other people reading the thread can learn it too ;)

Yeah. I'm actually gonna have a blue Ameraucana hen and one or two black ameraucana hens in this same pen. I hope to become an ameraucana breeder of several different colors.
