It's a very old thread, but I can't resist showing off Rameses, my Blue Australorp dynasty-to-be founder. He's about 10 months old in this photo.
Here's a 15-week cockerel with poor coloration:

15-week-old who was both bad type and poor coloration:
Red, whose type was about as good as Rameses's was at that age and who was a few ounces larger but whose coloration was not as good and who just didn't have Rameses's wow-factor -- that indefinable look of simply being a really good bird.
