Hello!

I recently decided to start raising birds! Together with my husband we have 60 cornish hens and 6 white turkeys for butcher this fall. I decided on whim that I wanted to have laying birds as well so I stumbled across these guys!

I purchased 12 blue Brahmas from a breeder near the end of june so these little ones are around 6 weeks old. From what i understand they're supposed to be all pure black.. but 2 of them are clearly grey. Which I think is so cool! Would anyone know what kind they would be? Will they stay grey or turn black eventually? Also I'm very uncertain on how to tell the males and females apart if anyone would be willing to help me with that!

Thank you so much in advance!!

When breeding blues, you can get blue, black or splash. The grey are either light blues or splashes (white with grey spots).

They're beautiful. Loving those feathery legs.

Now a couple of the blacks have red running through their bodies and some have brown on their heads! Does that mean they're cross with something?
