See this rooster I used to own? See his gold streaking? That's his gold base color showing through. The base can be silver or gold and the gold-based blacks have the best beetle-green sheen. Some of this boy's kids had this fault and many did not, but its not the best for breeding.

I have a black cochin girl that has orange flecked feathers under her chin. As far as I know, the others that hatched from the same batch of eggs were blue, black and splash. I'm not to sure what I'm going to come up with next.
