okay Pop57, I took some pics but I had to shoot into the sun, facing birds in the shade, so the pics are bad, but you should at least see what they look like.
Here is a black hen. Her eyes are too dark, and she is more of a petite bird than my usual taste in marans. She also has purple barring and a few whisps of white on the ends of a few feathers. She lays the dark eggs in this basket
Here is the splash pullet I like so much. Her comb is still pale pink, but she is one of my biggest marans already. Excuse their full crops, their food had run out and I was late feeding that afternoon.
Her back is not as level as I would like it to be. That is not an optical illusion, she actually walks around uphill like that. The blue is almost her twin, but more level. You can see the barring bleeding through on her neck. I am guessing these are around five months old.
