I have a question for those who have experience wth blue eared. Do they lay in nest boxes, on the ground, or what do they prefer? Also, will the hen hatch her own eggs fairly well, my incubator is having issues this season.

They lay on the ground, I've personally never had a reliable blue rared hen set long enough to hatch her eggs

you should prefer incubator instead of broody blue eared hen for better hatch result , if the nesting is small they will lay on ground , small means like nesting of ringneck , yellow , red . for blue eared it should be slightly big.

I have pulled the 1st 5 eggs from my blue eared and I will se if the hen will set on the rest. This what I am doing with all breeds and I may even try my impeyan this way.If they don'tset within 10 days I will pull the eggs and incubate.I have had luck doing this this last year and it was an okay season. Now if all the birds that set last year do this year great!
