One of my hand raised youngsters who is about two and a half months old suddenly can't walk. Her feet are purplish blue and
swollen and she can't seem to move them. She is still eating and drinking and I have her deprecated from my other birds. Any one seen this before? Any suggestions? I'm very worried about her..

Thanks for your reply Hokum Coco. It has not been cold lately, and there is no hair or string or anything on her legs. She was doing ok from what i could tell yesterday, she was walking and standing just fine, but when checked on my birds this morning she was on the floor un able to walk, it happened very suddenly.. I have been massaging her toes and feet gently under warm water. Does anyone have suggestions what else i can do for her?

Take it to a vet ASAP.

Otherwise you are only guessing at what is wrong.. and the condition may get worse.

What diet did you feed as you were hand raising it? Also how are the other hand raised pigeons?

Why did you have to hand raise 5 pigeons? Were there problems with the parents health?

The reason I had to hand raise all of those at the same time was because due to some intense family drama I had to move completely unexpectedly with all my birds. There were four young squabs in my loft at the time and once I had moved everyone to the new location the parents stopped feeding/sitting on them. I raised them on Kaytee Exact hand feeding formula and soaked seeds. The others are still doing fine, none of my other birds are showing any symptoms.
Unfortunately she's worse today. The skin between two of her toes has torn open and theres a little blood. the tips of her toes have gone from purple to blue and now they are black. She is still acting like her usual self, although i know birds hide their pain. She still flys fine. She spends most of the day sitting on a towel on a table in my room, and stays in a cage wile I'm gone. She flys around the room sometimes.
I can't afford to take her to the vet sadly, all my money is going to rent and food for me and the birds. I'm in the process of rehoming most of my birds. I feel terrible, i wish there is more i could do for her. Ive pampering her with treats and just making her as comfortable as i can. Should i try to make a tourniquet to prevent her from bleeding out if one of her toes gets busted off?
