Mrs. CalgaryFarmer: What would you like for breakfast?

Mr. CalgaryFarmer: An egg sandwich would be nice sweetheart. (Ok. I embellished that last part.)

Mrs. CalgaryFarmer: Those large eggs have double yolks. Let me try another. Yah. They seem to all have double yolks.

Mr. CalgaryFarmer panics as he recalls he has quite a few of these large eggs in the incubator. Quickly searches BYC. Ok. These might be a challenge. He runs to the incubator to count and finds four of these gloriously large eggs in the incubator.

Here are the eggs.

Every time I’ve tried to hatch twins, it didn’t work out—something always went wrong. Usually, one chick stopped developing early, or they both ended up too weak to make it out of the shell and failure to thrive. Sharing the same egg just doesn’t give them enough room or nutrients. Hopefully, that won’t be the case this time. with your eggs
(PS: my hens are laying double yolk as well- makes to omlets super rich!)

I am going to leave them in the incubator.

I will candle in a couple of days and post some pictures if I can get some good photos.
Good. Please document your journey. It can be exciting.

I've never tried to hatch double yolked eggs. There are some old threads on here where people have. The hatch rate is usually not great. Occasionally a single chick would hatch and thrive. On one thread I remember the person had to do an assisted hatch, those are touchy.

It is possible to get two chicks out of one of those eggs but the stars have to align. Really looking forward to this thread.
