blue jays eating chickens eggs?

the jays keep getting into my eggs. i have tried closing the door during the day when my chickens are free roaming, but he is still smart enough to prop open the door with is head. i dont want to lock the door, because the chickens might want to lay eggs during the day.please help

Keep a territorial rooster in the pen
Leave a couple eggs and put hot sauce on them
if all else fails, just shoot the bird.(not very humane, but it will work as a last resort)
