I have a blue Jersey Giant pullet. She was born March 7th, and I plan on selling her in early August. Brittany Spears (I didn't name her...) is well put together for production, and would probably do well in shows if she was the right color. Heres the thing, just how rare is she? What do I have? I mentioned it to a chicken keeper in the area, and he immediatley started trying to get me to sell her NOW. It was obvious he thought I had something I didn't know I had. Is she really rare or not so much?

Jersey Giants are indeed very rare, but it depends if you got her from hatchery or breeder stock - And that goes for any breed. If you got her from a genuine, reputable breeder - Sure she's rare and a very good hen.

I have Jersey Giants. I had a difficult time finding any at all. I purchased some from Maria Hall, for $25. to $35. each chick. I also hatched some from Wynette. I bought a few locally that originated from Sand Hills in Iowa, but they did not meet the SOP, so I sold them (cheap). There are very few good breeders, and they are hard to find (at least hard for me to find). I plan to have an excellent breeder stock. Anyway, that is my goal!
