Hi all
I got 2 of blue lace red wyandotte chicks. They are now 4 weeks old and seem way behind on feathering. They are also solid gray.
I have not been able to find specifics on the internets whether the feathers will develop the orange base color later or if i just have gray birds.
They are otherwise happy healthy and very active birds. Pictures of week 1, 2, and 4
Why do they look so naked?

They look like Blue Wyandottes. Whoever said they were BLRW was wrong. Straight combs are common in Wyandottes, though they are not desired. Wyandottes are also a very slow maturing bird, they aren't full grown until they're a year old. My girl feathered slowly too, and she's huge now. Yours are definitely Blues though.

Where did you get them from? That last one seem's to have a straight comb. I'm thinking that they might be a mixed breed?
They both have this same straight comb, came from a local feed store.
i cant blame the store on the combs because i picked out the chicks from a group.
I should have known it was a trick because i couldnt find this color variety anywhere last mo - sold out with all the hatcheries im familiar with.
i just like chickens so its fine with me that they are weirdos - possible mixes. I just like to know as much as i can

They don't look like Wyandottes. They should have yellow legs. They also look to be lavender. Where did the feed store get them?

I didn't even notice the leg color. Blue Australorps maybe? Lavender Orps?

The internet says that Tractor Supply buys from Hoover hatchery.
Maybe the store had them mislabeled and I dont know enough about chick markings to tell that the chicks arent looking right. It is what they say it is for me :)

Looks like lavender orpington when i review the hatchery website that supplies the feed store. Its the only all gray chicken with dark legs.
its a lucky break because i love my buffs but these grays are very flighty by comparison to the buffs
