We have a BLR that we purchased as a pullet along with 2 BO's and 1 Easter Egger. They were all close in age but the BLR was always bigger than the rest. I had assumed that it was a little older. We have had them for 11 weeks as of today. They were around 10 weeks when we got them. But lately I am starting to worry that the BLR is a cockerel. Its comb has not developed that much but its feathers are changing and look different from all the rest. We are new to chickens so I need your help please.

Rooster. See how he's getting long, pointy saddle feathers in front of his tail and how big and red his comb is at 10 weeks? Also, a BLRW pullet would not have that color pattern to her feathers.

He is around 20 weeks not 10.

Wait a mintute. I just took a close look at that bird. It's not a BLR Wyandotte at all. That's an Easter Egger rooster. Wyandottes don't have muffs!

Sorry I missed it the first time--I just looked at the saddle feathers, determined gender, and moved on. That's a gorgeous EE! You close to me? Want to give him away?

That is something I was wandering about with the muffs. He was supposed to be a BLR. I am in western NC and I am going to talk to the lady I got him from. She told me that if she had made any mistakes that she would make it right. We will see what happens. He is very pretty and is marked like a BLR. I had not planned on having a rooster but we may keep him. He is not very aggressive and has not started crowing.

that is an ee that might have blrw in it and is 110% cockerel. he is not marked like a blrw at all sorry
