These chickens are going to be the death of me! I just put one of my horses down last week and now I have another chicken that is acting questionable. She is a blue lace wynette and about a year old. She looks great, eat and drinking, but just tonight I noticed that she sounds funny, like she is gurgling/purring/almost like a wheeze. She is also coughing which sounds like a squeak/chirp. She is my baby. Some of them are having a light molt and I am also wondering if the pollen is bothering them as we are in NC and the allergy season is really bad. Any Suggestions! Thank you!!

Is there anything in the coop to irritate her such as dusty litter or feed, or any mold? Does she have watery eyes, nasal drainage, any swelling of the face or around eyes, any swelling of wattles? How long have you had her, how old, and where did your chickens come from (hatchery, breeder, your incubator, farm store, or swap meet?) Respiratory symptoms may indicate infectious bronchitis, MG, coryza, or another respiratory infection which is contagious to the flock, and may make all carriers. Culling is the best way to get rid of respiratory diseases, and antibiotics can only help symptoms in bacterial and mycoplasmal infections, not viruses. They won't sure the disease, though. Here is a good link to read and compare symptoms: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

I am going to clean the coop out tomorrow. She does not have watery eyes, no nasal drainage or any swelling. She is acting her normal self. I got her from a friend. Thanks for the link!
