If the chicks' parents are both blue laced there's a chance that black laced chicks could hatch. If one parent of splash and the other was blue then they're a darker variant of blue laced

Blue laced red works the same way as blue.

blue laced red x blue laced red = 25% splash laced red, 50% blue laced red, 25% black laced red

So would you recommend keeping these “Smokey” boy and girl? I’d like to sell hatching eggs next year but I want to advertise as Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and be truthful with what people are getting.

I think that black laced bred to splash laced will produce all blue laced reds.

The only way you can produce 100% blue laced red offspring is by breeding a splash laced red to a black laced red.

However there's a lot of variation in blue. Some believe the best blue coloration comes from a blue x blue breeding, but that will also give black and splash. You will have to decide what you want to try.

Oh, and to me your "smoky" birds look like a darker blue rather than black. Of course I can't see them in person to be sure.

In other words, these are birds worth keeping for your breeding program! if they are actually black laced reds. Or, as another interesting project.
