Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

x2

To improve the lacing you could cross her with a black (their lacing is usually THICK) might work in the chicks. If you can't do that I would not use her to breed.

Ahhh good I was thinking the same thing. I have a gorgeous black male I have been growing out for that exact reason :) yayyyyy

I had 2 Foley chicks hatch

I don't know what color they are.... anybody can offer ideas

This one is still gooey but is VERY Dark, but I don't think I would call it black.....

My first thought with this one was it is blue, but not sure.

Those look blue to me :)

This is the hen I am thinking is light blue...not splash. The other hen is going through a molt right now so I didn't get any pics but I am pretty sure she is splash.

Splash rooster, looking a little rough as he and the turkeys have been getting into spats lately.

I don't have any pics of the chicks yet. They range from 1 week to 2 1/2 weeks. I will try and get some soon though!

Splash :)

I have a quick question. When you hatch out BLR eggs, are the black birds Golden Laced Wyandottes? The reason I'm asking is I bought a dozen eggs and 5 hatched. About 2 months ago a raccoon got them all but 1 blue hen & one blue rooster. I have covered their tractor in hardware cloth & taken care of the raccoon. So I was wondering if I got a few Golden Laced Wyandottes and crossed them, would it be the same? Here is a picture of the birds I have left

GLW are NOT the same. BLRW have a mahogany gene that GLW don't have. BLRW are a MUCH DEEPER RED than a GLW.
