Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

I saw them then, I didn't scroll down the first time. Send me some pricing and shipping charges. I ordered a bunch but I have more than one incubator and am going to get rid of all of my RIR's and mixed and stick with the BLRW's and Buff Orpington's

So the black color on the tips isn't the tell? Ive been reading this whole thread.

I picked out these four from a total of 12 and they were definitely black laced compared to others that were blue laced. I didn't realize the whole bird would be black.
some blues will have a much darker edging/tip than others, sometimes looking nearly black, but without that iridescence, and if it looks faded or dusty away from the tip, it's a blue.

if you look back up, at my blue laced red roo, you can see how dark the blue can be... smee, my bantam blrw, is a lighter blue.

even though his sides are lighter the chest feathers still look darker too though. BlRW to me seem to be one of the breeds you really want to wait for there first fully matured molt to really know what you have got is that right or no, i remember a ton of post back another guy thought his was black laced till much later when his roo matured started turning more blue.

Quote: actually, a solid blue is supposed to ahve a dark edge to the blue feathers. if you look closely, that's what smee's got on his chest... it's a dark blue edge before it lightens, just before the lacing ends and it goes to the red center... he's the neatest blrw i've seen IMO. almost a triple color to the lacing (even tho it's just the normal pattern for most blues, plus the red center).

Ya know this is the very reason I test bred my light blue cockerel. He has that same dark edging on the feathers in the chest. So I bred him to solid black pullets and hatched a couple of solid black chicks...Since then I have bred him to another light blue and some splash pullets and out of about 30 chicks, he has only sired 3 splashes.

HUGE BLR(splash) Peep. He has a brother that sized also...the rest are normal sized (like the one on the right)! Only 2 weeks old...might keep this one, and I don't keep spashes!
