Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

were those from a breeder or hatchery?

hatchery birds are bred more for #s of eggs, while breeder birds were bred more for size and type. 2 totally different standards, and 2 distinctly different body types as well.
Well, from a breeder in San Diego, who has collected primarily from Paul, Bishop, Foley, Slackwater, and Hoppy, and is working on her own line.
Would you mind elaborating on the differences? That would be really helpful as I look at my collection, which does include birds from other breeders as well.

x2! #5 might turn out to be a darker Splash. I just got done raising up about 100 chicks and I LOVE this breed so many variations in the Blue-black-splash.

Quote: well, typically I find the hatchery Wyandottes to be a bit narrower thru the chest and body, more upright in the stance and the back too long and straight. also the red wasn't anywhere near mahogany.

that may vary by hatchery, but the ones my friend had, tho pretty birds, were not anything i'd consider even remotely close to breeding quality.

Update on loss of all blrw breeders and bcm roo. A couple days 3 trail cams with infra red night video and 3 hrs tracking I found the culprit to be two 20 + lb raccoons. A neighbor recommended hosing down perimeter of coop to look for footprints and determine culprit I did that as well. Little paw prints all over coop and on door. I have my dnr permit, my coyote hunter friends might vision goggles and a 3-day weekend. Good bye $2000 chicken eating raccoons

Alrighttt so Im new to this breed and just hatched out 7 of these little hopefuls.... They are now about a month old and combs and colors are starting to show... I know some basic facts about this breed and variety for example the BLRW are the prettiest Wyandottes there are!! haha. Anyways, here's a few of them...these were Ebay eggs so i think a couple are a bit off:( Opinions.....?

I think this guys got the BEST color but it looks like a single comb!!

Probably a roo?
