Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Hello all, I was wondering if you could give me a little help. I am wanting to start breeding BLRWs. I love the breed! Would you say my birds are good starters?
Depends on what your goals are. If you are breeding for potential show prospects or if it is for food, or if you are breeding to the SOP.
Wyandottes have a round body.
These are better color than most I have seen. They do not look like hatchery birds. I see good mahogany in the male too. If they are young they have great potential and might develop more. It takes some lines of Wyandottes 18 months.
Weigh them and if you have 8-9lb birds..you have a great trio

I like the chest on bird one..
I am not positive bird two is a cockerel..looks like nice color
can't really see bird 3..buff color
bird 4 looks like a buff laced bantam..cute as a button
Thanks delisha,

When they stand up straight all look pretty "chesty" - guess that is the wyandotte in them.
I almost sent 2 away and decided to wait and see. I have a BLG that looked like a boy very young and now lays eggs. It is also the only one with an appreciable amount of blue.
3 is in front, she is almost white-white.
I think 4 is a cutie, too. I really like her. Do you think her tail will teepee (I hope) ? Right now it looks kind of cochin to me.

All are bantams

In this pic they were about 8 months old. Now at 11 months I am sure the roo is all of 9#. I would love to breed for show prospect but am just getting into this and have a ton to learn. I think my 3 are beautiful compared to some I have seen but then again they are mine so they could really be ugly and I would still love them ;)

Quote: you should love them. I hope you do show them.
I would like to see new pictures of them if the male is 11 months old he should be looking pretty darn good.

ok cross fingers for me... i'll be going to 2 different shows in the next 4 weeks.

the VPBA show (near Richmond VA) i'll just be going as a spectator and to see what's for sale (cross fingers i find the birds needed to replace those lost to predators)

i'll be showing in Knoxville (chicken dinner and his momma are going) as will smee (bantam) and possibly my new little girl. LOL and also shopping for more of the same.

i dread giving baths this time of year tho.

I did silkies yesterday..I blow dried them till they were dry..took a long time..probably 4 hours. They did not go outside till later afternoon and kept in a small area closed off from any drafts. A cardboard surround would work.
