The second chick looks like a BLRW. I am suspicious about the first one though and it's not just the comb. I've never had a BLRW chick that had head markings like that. Of course, different lines could be different... but i'm not convinced the first one is a wyandotte. Mine look like the bottom one with the black ones being darker and the splash ones being lighter.
Those look just like my Speckled Sussex chicks I hatch.
yes a single comb would be visible very early, I only see rose combs here! I agree with your assessment, cockerel in the 1st photo, pullet in the 2nd. based on the size/development of the comb, how far it stands up off the head on the first guy.I have 15 almost 3 week old BLRW's. I am trying to start figuring out how many of each I have. I took these pics to see if I'm on the right track by sexing them by their combs. I know I wont by 100% until they crow or lay an egg but it would be great to get a ballpark guesstimate! Also, would a single comb be showing up by now, because so far it's looking like they should all be rose combs, fingers crossed! Do these 2 look like they could be blues?
Rooster?

Yep I agree, first is a cockerel and the second pullet. A single comb would be visible at this point, I only see rose. Both look like they may be splash or a light blue.I have 15 almost 3 week old BLRW's. I am trying to start figuring out how many of each I have.
