Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

It was the 1st and last time I'll hatch from them as I live in the city and can't keep a roo so unfirtunitly I had to rehome my tolbunt Polish.... I love how their babies came out. 2 Blue with fluffy polish heads...and a black with fluffy polish head...
Here's my lighter grey pullet

Another shot of the suspected boy which im bummed about

And the 3rd is a black chick... Fingers crossed puller but not sure because the skin is so dark

That's sad you can't have more. They are such fun looking babies with the grey coloring and the mini polish head dress. I am glad that at least one of them is a pullet that you will get to keep.

We'll I guess I can join the group now! Got 6 BLRW bantams today! 2 roosters and 4 hens. Lovely little things, a heck of a lot smaller then the ladies standards! Here's the only pictures I have so far of bringing them home

Bantams are so cute. You do know the colors are very off for the proposed SOP? Those are too orange. But they will be fun for you as a backyard flock and pets. Congrats!

I just received my first blr chicks in the mail. It is my understanding that if I bought three, then I had about an 80% chance of getting at least one true blr. Unfortunately one died before we got them home. Of the remaining two, one is getting little pin feathers, but they look black. My question is, is it too early to decide she is black laced and not blue laced. Could the feathers change as she gets older. She is only 3 days old. At what age can you truly get a feel for what you got, blue, black or splash? Thank you for any input.

lizzychick you could pretty much tell at an early age what color blrw you have.

This hen was a med color as a chick and her color has stayed constant.

This hen was very light as a chick and she is a splash blrw and her color has stayed constant as well. Her feathers are not white she still has a light tint of blue. Splash can very in color to a very white to a light tint of blue.

I am hoping this is a little helpful. But if you could post pics it would be easier to determine what color they will be.

Thank you for the reply. All three looked exactly the same, like chipmunks.

The two in the center of the photo are the blr wyandottes. There is an Easter egger behind them.

This is another blr in the cup.

Quote: The little chick in the the tea cup looks like it may be blue. That's exactly what my blue pullet looked like when she was a chick and i was scared she was going to be black. That's my thought on that little guy or gal. They might both be blue i would just wait to see what other members might think that have a more expert eye.
