Quote: Nice wide bird..wide from shoulders to tail. Good structure. nice comb and waddles.
Thanks, I had nothing to do with that other than pay for him LOL. I do love that he is as wide at the tail as he is at the shoulders, so is the younger roo.

His name is Rosco, as in Rosco P. Coltrane. I answered a CL ad for free roosters and when I showed up this was the dude they offered me. I have never had wyandottes before this year but now I have him and two Black Laced Red hens which I purchased to add to my egg layers. I was looking for something to help protect the flock as all I have are broilers and laying hens. So far he has been the perfect gentlemen. He brings the girls back home when starts to get dark and he is very alert while everyone is eating. I just had to share since he is quite the beauty. But I do have one question. I haven't seen him "frequenting" any of the hens. He stays very close to one of my Cornish Cross that was left over from last year and they seem to be attached at the hip but I haven't seen him try to breed her either. Our other roo is a Cochin named "Cash", who I picked up from the same owner, and he seems to mount anything that will get within reach. Do these roos breed easily or do they take a while to get warmed up to the hens? He has only been with us for about 4 days.
