Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

I agree on the color name. I have the project and will be working with them next spring. I have 3 blue roos about 2 months old and I will put them with my slw girls. we will see how it goes.

I'm a rookie BLRW owner. My desire to own this type of breed shoot up when I started following this thread. The pictures posted here, made me envious. My 10 week-old splash cockerel (pet quality) is developing a color more on the orange shade than the standard. The chance of it to turn into the preferred mahogany color is probably nil but he is a keeper for me anyhow. Will pairing him with a darker blue pullet improve the coloring of the offspring eventually? I don't plan to breed just happy to have BLRW's free ranging with my flock of BCM and EEs.
Thank you for your thoughts.

he actually looks more like a blue laced gold. I don't think he's splash, just a light blue.

if you were to breed him to a gold laced, you'd get 50/50 black and blue lacing on the gold color. so that's a thought too.

Well, if any of you ever end up with the."violet" please let me know!! I want some really bad! I only have juvenile wyandottes, a blrw roo, splash roo & 3 splash pullets. I really love.the Foley lines! But I think I like the violet better!

We hatched our first 4 BLRWs from shipped eggs for the Easter hatch-a-long (now 3.5 months old.) I originally thought we had 4 cockerels when they were chicks, but now I'm guessing they're all pullets.

Sharing some photos below hoping to get some feedback on quality to see if I should consider looking for a rooster for these gals.
