Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Ok, good deal. I know some people can be so crooked. :(  Anyway, I do know this, the more even the patterning, the more likely it's a pullet. Also, in my experience, 99% of the time no tail early on means cockerel. Best of luck with your new babies!!

I have three with tails and one without,.. Can I be that lucky

ISO: Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. If anyone out there has any for sale or knows someone who does, please PM me! Thanks!

I have a friend who is looking and any leads on locating some, eggs, chicks or birds, would be appreciated!

new2dotties: You can be!!! If pullets are what you are looking for, I think you have pretty great odds!!! Time will tell, of course, but the tail growth is a pretty good give away with dotties! Next thing you are watching for is comb growth/redness and wattles. Pullets will have little to no wattles and cockerels are showing by 4 wks. Best of luck!! (I love playing roo or hen, so fun to watch them grow!)

Oh good new! Whoo hoo! I'll try not to get too excited! Still wondering if those two chicks in the pics are blue or black though? Any ideas?

I would guess black, only because I have only ever had blues and have never seen any colored like yours in my personal experience. The blue in mine always came in right away, with their first feathers, and the down on their backs had a lot of blue in it, males and females both. STILL, I am no expert, just another backyard farmer, really.

I had to come back to add, I don't know enough about other dotties yet, (yours look so similar to gold laced to me) and how or why you could end up with blues with no blue in them. I know you can end up with splash, but there is still blue. Hm. I wish someone else would weigh in!

They don't look blue to me either but telling blue from black is hard early on sometimes, at least that is what I've been told by more experienced folks. Mine had a lot more apparent blue than those

Thank you! I feel a little more encouraged haha. I will say chick two in person does have a dark blue/gray to it but it's hard to see

I have gold laced and silver laced, he does look gold to me, but the blue doesn't breed true so you can get blue splash or black.
