I've never posted on this thread before, but I'm really interested in LF or Bantam BLRW and I was hoping someone on here might know someone who has them. I'm looking for high quality

I have Bantam BLRW. My birds received Best of Variety at all the shows I took them to last year. Here are a couple of my younger pullets from this year.

I'll be breeding mine as soon as my girl starts laying. i've posted pics of them both before. absolutely in love with my blue laced roo, the girl is black laced, and nice, but near as nice as he is IMO. he's matured very nicely.

Hi All, I'm new to chicken keeping ( a year this past March ). I would like a critique of Spike my BLRW roo, the good & the bad. I want to use him for breeding. I have 6 girls for him, 4 splash & 2 blue. I hatched him in late April, Is he considered blue ? He has a great temperment. I lightened the first pic to show his lacing. I just found out that the BLR variety isn't recognized by the APA yet

, but I've read that they can be shown in "Open Class", does that mean that the highest award they can get at a show is "Best of Breed" but can not go on in the show? Thanks

i think best an unrecognized variety can go is best variety.

they just need to have more people working with them, and jump thru some hoops to get it approved. if i remember, it has to have so many breeders working on it for at least 5 years, a written proposed standard and at an approval meet have a minimum of 25 birds entered by at least 5 breeders. (not sure if that's in each category or overall). AND the birds have to (at least for the majority) meet the proposed standard.

I am no expert. But I can give my opinion.
He is a blue. His lacing is beautiful. I like how its spread to his hocks. He is young so he will change, but right now his back seems longish to me.. But wyandottes mature lower then most so he could very well change all that. In the picture his lacing looks a bit light, but you said you lightened it. Nice blue color. He sure is handsome. If he is your best, Id use him.

Thanks Countrypunk, Right now he is my best & only. I had a couple of splashes, but w/4 splash hens............. just didn't want to go in that direction. His lacing is darker than the pics show, I lightened them because it was overcast & darkish here the other day and it was difficult to see the lacing. I will keep watch on his back to see how he changes. I won't be using him 'til the spring, plenty of time to grow into himself ! Thank you for the complements
