People really don't understand The "Any Other Variety" thing-I've tried to explain it several times to no avail.
Blue Laced Red Wyandottes should be entered as Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, not AOV Wyandottes. I've been doing the entries & judging book for 2 shows for years. Occassionally I get an "AOV" entry & I have to call the exhibitor to find out what it is.
Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, at least all the ones I've seen, are a long way from being ready for admission to the Standard. The problem ,again IMO, is that they have been bred fot the most part by beginners who have focused on colour with little or no attention to type. If the type is wrong it doesn't matter how good the colour is. Remember-type makes the breed, colour makes the variety.
