I have a Blue that was hatched April 3rd of 2011 and she has yet to lay her first egg. I have a Speckled Sussex which you can see on the ground to the left of the Blue who has been laying for the last two months, and she was hatched March 21st of 2011. The rest of my flock was hatched on May 16th and of that group, the Barred Rock and the Welsummer just stated laying last week. Being that the Blue Maran is nearly 7 months old and not laying....will she? I have attached a picture of the Blue and also of my Speckled Sussex waiting on her daily egg. She is a great chicken especially around my 2 year old.
