I hatched some eggs this year that I got from a lady who is breeding Lavender Ameraucanas. They are very cute and doing well. But I'm quite confused about the colours. I believe they should be either Lavender or Black only. But I have a couple that I think(?) look blue, not lavender. Don't blues have a darker border on the feathers and lavenders are just uniformly grey/lavender? Also I have one that appears to be white with a few scattered grey feathers. As well as some that are clearly lavender (unfortunately with feather shredding starting to appear) and some black. Is it possible that some BBS genetics have gotten into her lavender bloodlines? Or am I just confused about what lavender are supposed to look like?
It's not a big deal for me. I'm not planning on starting a line of lavenders or anything. I'm just trying to understand the genetics.
