I let my broody Russian orloff hatch out eggs. I was told some of the eggs were blue partridge silkies. Since all the other eggs were from larger breed chickens I'm assuming this is a blue partridge silkie. Is that correct? Also, hen or roo? I was told roo because of streamers coming off his head. I read that hens have puffy heads. This is important to me since I don't want roos. I hate to give it away though if it's a hen. Pipsqueak is my favorite of the ones she hatched. The chicks were hatched August 3rd so about 2 1/2 months old.

even with enlarging the photos, she is just too far away to see well. Could you get a clear closeup of her head, showing comb (if possible hold her crest back or use rubber band) and on of her profile, standing?

Silkies are very difficult to sex accurately before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they crow or lay. Looks like a well balanced chick from good breeding. You can tell I am hoping its a girl too.

I will try in the morning. The Orloff that hatched them still won't let you get too close to them. She charges you and pecks at your feet lol. The crest is the stringing things on the top of her head?

Yes, the crest is the puffy feathers on top of her head. She doesn't look like a blue partridge silkie either. From what I can see - she looks black.
