Blue Perfection- What Is The Perfect Chicken Blue ~~Discussion~~

I think the 'perfect' blue is more of a personal preference, some like dark blue and some like light blue.
I also believe that blue is supposed to have lacing either way, though I've not personally seen any very light blue birds.

I have some of each (very dark-almost black-blues, and not so dark, but not white blues), and I like them both.

This very light blue chick was thought to be splash at first, but when you see it next to its splash hatchmate, you realize it's just extremely light blue. This baby is 10 days old and I'd like to keep it to see how it develops so cross your fingers that it's a pullet.

I love how the blue roos- cochins and orps particullarly- are two-toned. Looks like one of my chicks might be blue mottled- she's 3 weeks old, and just started getting black feathers. Wierd, but cute!

There is a silkie breeder who has or had very pale pastel blues--never seen anything like it--different hue than lavender/self-blue--gorgeous. Unfortunately, after he sold them (I don't think he sold all) he closed that link on his web page. They were mature birds with no splashing, so it wasn't that.

That just reminds me of something Grant Brereton said. That if one bred splash to splash for enough generations (presumably selecting away from the flecks) one would get to a very pale even blue.
