Hi All,

I hope you are well and staying safe. As I'm sure you know, there is a huge demand for chicks during this time in our country. I feel so grateful to have laying chickens and would like to get some more. I've only kept chickens for about a year, and though I love all of my initial choices, I didn't know enough to consider broodiness in my selections (which of course affects egg production!). I can't be picky about breeds now, and have to select from what is available at our local feed stores. So, I have a quick question: Does anyone know if the Blue Sapphire chicken has a tendency toward broodiness? Thanks in advance!

Tho some breeds are listed as being prone to broodiness, it's mostly an individual thing.
Some bantams, games, cochins, and silkies seem to live up to their broodiness label.
I doubt your "Blue Sapphire" is inherently broody,
seems it's a 'designer' cross, bred for it's looks and autosexing at the hatchery.
If you want chicks best get an incubator,
but I wouldn't be so sure about this new demand for chicks, it'll burn out fast.
