We started out with 2 Pekin and 2 Blue Swedish, but one of our Pekin didn't make it. They are now about 7 weeks old and I am wondering what sex they are. Can you tell by how fiesty they are. One of our ducks are very fiesty and 2 of them are quite calm. I think the calmer ones are the males. Is it true that the females are louder and fiestier. If so the pekin we lost was a female. Any guess on the 2 blue swedish duckies? Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Females are definitely louder. The easiest way to tell is by how they sound. Females have a definite quack sound while drakes sound raspy, kind of like they're hoarse or like they swallowed a frog. Then the drakes also get that one curled tail feather. I believe I noticed that my Pekin had his drake feather when he was around 7 weeks old. Based strictly on what I see in the photo, I'd say you have 3 females, but again, voice sounds are the easiest way to tell for sure, in my humble opinion.

Sorry for the loss of your other Pekin!
