I don't know for sure but I would think with Pekin being consider heavy weight and blue swedes light that there would be a difference in size of egg.Anyone know?
Sure couldn't go by that here my chickens and ducks lay side by side most days, but ducks eggs feel like wax on the outside where chicken eggs have a rough feel to them. That's what I was thinking too. It was smaller compared to the pekin's eggs. Have some smaller blue/green eggs and I'm trying to decide if it was from the ducks or the chickens. It was in the same area as my other duck goes to lay eggs and not in the coop area where the chickens go.
That's what is making it confusing for me because our chickens and ducks are just starting to lay so I'm not 100% sure. LOL. Thanks for the tip. I hadn't noticed that. I will check next time I collect eggs.Sure couldn't go by that here my chickens and ducks lay side by side most days, but ducks eggs feel like wax on the outside where chicken eggs have a rough feel to them.
After I posted I went and looked at some of my duck/chicken eggs and only some of my chickens eggs have a bit of rough feel to them but the ducks eggs dif feel and look waxier. That's what is making it confusing for me because our chickens and ducks are just starting to lay so I'm not 100% sure.
