My blue swedish drake got his adult feathers recently and he has some brown feathers on him. I’ve never seen one like this, could it just be from his parents if one of them was a mallard or rouen?

I have a duck who is a cross of a silver Swedish and a Khaki mix who looks like a blue Swedish with a few brown feathers. I say she is lavender because she is blue and brown sex-linked. I think that is correct. Anyway, the allele which makes blue dilutes or results in not as much black pigment going in the feather. It seems like the amount it allows can vary. Her is my duck.

Do you know that yours is a cross breed?

we found his egg at a local pond and there was only one blue swedish hen so i know that’s his mother. The only drakes at the pond were mallards, a rouen, and a pekin

This might be a silly question, but is there a reason that you took an egg from a pond? Here in California, only licensed wildlife rehabilitation staff can relocate fowl/eggs. Just curious!
Those ducks are obviously domestic. If it was reported you might still get a talking too, but they’re not wild birds and not protected.
It actually makes me sad these ducks are living wild. OP you should rescue them. They’re dumped and won’t last long.

I agree with you that they are obviously domestic, however even here if people try to take obviously domestic ducks from our lakes and parks, the fine is astronomical. I was just curious, which is why I asked. Thank you for setting me straight.
