Blue wyandotte leg color?

Ok I had to go feed the birds and I do have a blue cockerel that has nice yellow legs....and yes according to my toe punch he is crossed with a BLRW, he actually looks pretty darn good type wise too.

I guess the BLRW roo I used on the blue hens must be carrying ER/eb ?

My blues, on roosters the legs are yellower than on my hens but hens are not black they are grayish in front and tapper to a yellowish in back. I agree Jerry that most judges will look at bottom of feet for black. may just leave them the way they are. All of my splashes have mostly yellow leg color.

If you dont mind me asking...where did you get your Blues? You do live in the heart of Wyandotte country....here in Kentucky there are only a few Wyandotte breeders.

You can always just start feeding your Blues alot of corn, that will make the legs more yellow.

Also how is the lacing on your solid blues? The lacing is fairly prominant in mine, but no nice "black line" lacing on the blue, as in a good Andalusian Blue. I am at a dead end on how improve the lacing on the blues....I can see lacing that is a little darker blue..but no black.

Hi Jerry, I got them from welp and been trying to improve them for three years. I know what you are saying about the lacing and mine sound like yours prominent in the lacing but not as good as andalusian blue. Have you ever tried breeding them to silver laced or other laced bird. I haven't but thought about trying it with one hen and see what happens? Not a genetic guy by any stretch so don't know what would happen. Mike
