Hello! I wanna tell you about my chicken, Blueberry.

About 4 months ago I saved this girl from a very bad home. As a chick she was stuck outside in a dog cage with no warmth or food. For the next few weeks she was outside struggling to keep warm. She slept in her own feces. Her food was never clean nor fresh and she always never had water but when she did it was nasty due to her walking all over the bowel she had.

When I found her I was horrified with what I saw. I was so angry with this person, who did he think he was to disrespect such a wonderful creature. I immediately reported this man to the animal services.

After with dealing with animal services and a incredibly rude and impolite person; she was mine.

After 4 months I’ve seen a huge improvement from her. She roams around with her little flock, she’s very curious about the world around her.

But there’s one issue...I’m not sure how old she is. The man who I got her from said she was 16 weeks and I took his word for it being a naive person I am. I need all of your help to help me know her age!

Thank you for getting to know my chicken Blueberry, peace! ✌🏻

I think australorps lay around 24 weeks, depending on the pullet, it could be longer. Stress can also delay... the stress of her old living conditions, the stress of moving to a new place. It is really hard to wait for that first egg! But she is looking close.
Is she the only chicken you have?

Awww.....she sure is a sweetheart, 💖thank you for rescuing her! Australorps don't start laying until 24 to 26 weeks of age. She looks like she is getting ready. It can take a while for her to settle down from a move. She may need to build up her reserves if she wasn't cared for properly in the past. Give her time and lots of love! :)
