BO and Australorpe Crosses

Okay if I have a cross between a BO Roo and an Australorpe hen would the chicks be a cross or on or the other depending on color. From what I understand they are basically the same breed (correctly me if I'm wrong) just different colors.
 
My uneducated response:

I believe they will be mutts and a Buff color.

Our leghorn roo / Australorp hen crosses all
look like Dad. They act like him too.
 
While they are closely related they are seperate breeds for many years now. Aussies were developed off of Orpingtons imported to Austrailia many years ago, and they crossed them with some better layers to get the egg production the aussies are known for.

So yes you will have a cross. And colour will vary.
 
Thanks for your replies. Now I just need to find another Australorp roo to replace Chester who was killed this last week so I can breed true.
