Temperature can get to 40°C in Summer and down to 5°C in winter, so will need something that can handle some heat.

Alohas are hardy and do well in heat, the breed originated in Arizona.

We have a mixed flock. The ones that seem to tolerate heat the best are our black Australorps. They are the last ones to start panting and the first to stop. Our Easter Eggers are the first to start panting. They and the Bielefelders spend the most time in the cool water foot baths.
