ok I posted a few weeks ago about my sex link hen and my buff orpington hen possibly being roos. So I was told by the majority that they were both roos. So the red sex link has matured during the last 3-4 weeks and is a ROOSTER. He even crowed today. We are still hoping to keep him. As for the buff orpington. I am still not sure. He/SHE hasn't changed like the other and they are the same age (4mths). The waddle (?) hasn't gotten any bigger or redder. Also no crow or cocky behavior. So I thought I would ask again.

Woops I changed my mind. In the picture where they are eating the melon, right at the top of the Orpington's tail and to the right, right at the edge of the picture, it looks like there are some pointy saddle feathers. So I vote cockeral.

The Buff IS a boy. You can tell my the shiny, pointy hackle feathers around his neck and tail. Some Buff boys are a little slow to mature. In my experience, those end up being the best.

I can't tell hackle feathers for the life of me. And I don't have a BO, but I do have a white Orpington hen. Her comb, at 5 months old, is still so small and barely noticeable. Nothing like your chickens. But I can see why you were thinking hen. She isn't screaming roo to the uneducated masses. No wonder people are startled when a hen crows!
