Hello Fellow Chicken Lovers...I come to you again for your knowledge of these wonderful birds.
My Scarlett has somehow injured the top of her beak. It's a split right down the center, maybe just under 1/16" in length. It doesn't seem to be bothering her, as eating & drinking is not being affected. But I am concerned that it will continue to split and grow larger, much like a fingernail would, especially with the way she hunts bugs and tears at apples and pumpkins. What are your suggestions for dealing with this? Can I hold her in place and file it down like a fingernail? Should it be cut off (I am unfamiliar with how to do something like that - how would I go about it?), or just leave it be? I am afraid that if I leave it alone it could split all the way back and then I'll have a real emergency on my hands.
Any and all suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance. Lisa
