So I bought 3 supposed buff orphington pullets from Stockdales but one has me worried....I'm not supposed to have chicks at all in my area so I REALLY can't have a crowing rooster. First pic largest on the right is my worry. I want to say they are 3 weeks-ish. Don't see any waddles yet but you can tell on that one the comb is taller, darker, and thicker. Legs are also thicker. I know this gets asked a thousand times and it is early to tell for sure. This is my first batch of chickies since I was a kid.

I see why you are worried.
Yes, it is too early to tell for sure.

If it is a male, it should become much more obvious over the next few weeks.

Also, if it might matter, the chick in question was a bit darker when he/she was mostly fuzz still. The 2 were more blonde and that one was more caramel.

In the chicks, the shade of gold should not be associated with the gender.

Adult Buff Orpingtons do sometimes have slightly darker roosters and slightly lighter hens, but it's not reliable enough to sex them by.

Better [maybe] pic of the comb in question

ok, with the new pic, if you see NOTICABLE color difference in the waddle, then its probably a cock. sometimes tho, they just develop faster. all chickens waddles turn red. ( mostly, except for certain breeds, but you know what i mean ;) ) the thing to check is how it comparesto your other babies. Best of luck!
